I have to share this story because I've gasped in horror when I've heard it's happened to others, but today it happened to me.
After Leila woke from her nap today I could hear her playing very happily in her cot. Usually she starts calling out not long after waking but as she didn't today, I left her for about half an hour before going in to her. I expected to walk in to a baby playing with her toes, giggling at her pictures, but what I found was something quite different.....
Leila was sans nappy and yes, horror of all horrors, after removing her nappy she'd done a very big poo. That same poo was all over her hands, her face, her legs, not to mention being all over the sheets, blankets, teddies, sides of the cot, wall - AAAAARGH!!!!! Geoff wasn't home and I honestly stood there for at least a minute saying "OH NO, OH NO, OH NO". I only leapt into action when Leila put one of those grubby thumbs into her mouth - she is a thumb sucker after all. I then ran to the kitchen and grapped a lolly pop so at least she could suck on sugar, the lesser evil of the two. I then removed her at distance and took her to the bathroom. This was tricky though too, as we've been without hot water for the last two days as our service broke and was only fixed this afternoon. I had to then boil the kettle quickly, tip it into the bath and then cool with tap water to get maybe a half inch of bathing water. Baby cleaned (that stuff was really dried on) I had to tackle the bedding, picking up little deposits from everywhere! I haven't even been able to wash them yet as we still don't have hot water.
I told you it was gross!

yikes! thanks for not adding pics ;)
hope it's all good now...see it as a learning experience...hopefully for your daughter too...a good story for her 18th (better not...)
Oh I have had this happen to me a couple of years ago its gross isnt it!!!!! hope its all cleaned up and back to normal now :-)
Yes, that sounds pretty gross. I would freak out if my daughter ate her poop, but it's definitely something she would do. Sometimes while I am changing a poopy diaper, she'll purposefully swipe at her dirty area and put her fingers in her mouth. The more I say "no," the more she wants to do it! Yucky!
So grateful not to see the pics...I have always dreaded this very scenario- so far lucky to have been spared the experience! Fingers crossed Grace doesn't decide to give it a try!
Oh No! Yuuuuck! Oh, I'm so squeamish, I would be gagging all the way. Worst poo story we've had was before she was toilet trained and she was all ready to get in the bath, when I realised the pilot light had gone out and so the bathwater was cold. While I was sorting that out she'd run into the lounge room, pooed on the carpet then trodden in it. She was so upset it was everywhere. Big hugs to comfort her meant I got covered in it too, so I stripped myself off and threw us both in the bath. Once got her off to bed I had the gruesome task of attempting to get poo out of our sisal carpet and flokati rug. I was almost sick. Oh it's a glamourous life being a mother!
That only happened once to me. Once was enough.
Jack is now 16, so it's only a dim (yet revolting) memory...
Oh no! My nephew did a similar thing last year. He even managed to 'read' his books. Yuck. Here's hoping my Smurf never reads this post and gets ideas!
